Kluang Coffee Powder Factory - From Coffee Beans to A Cup Of Kopi-O

Visiting this 40 year-old coffee factory at Kluang brought me back to my childhood days where my father would buy traditional coffee powder from a small stall at a wet market in Clementi. I didn't know how to appreciate a steaming cup of black goodness back then but I sure do now given that I can't even survive without a cuppa to get through my day!

Here at Kluang Coffee Powder Factory, I was able to enjoy and appreciate a cup of freshly brewed kopi-o after witnessing the hard work put into the roasting process.

The coffee started from these raw coffee beans from Johor, Vietnam and even Columbia. The beans are then roasted until they begin to turn brown and mixed evenly with sugar, butter etc.

Ta-da! The processed coffee beans before they are sent to be grinded into powder form.

The coffee powder are then being packed into huge metal containers, small containers and small sachets to coffee lovers. They come in 2-in-1 (with sugar) and just as it is, without any creamer or sugar added.

I always had the misconception of white coffee being white in colour, but white coffee essentially means 'pure coffee', where no sugar or extra flavouring is added to enhance the flavour of the coffee. Although the aroma of the coffee is more subtle to me, I like the lighter coffee taste.

The people at Kluang Coffee Factory were so kind to prepare local snacks for us to go with the coffee they had prepared for us. The aromatic coffee is indeed worth the 'TV brand' name it has earned over the past 40 years. There's this caffeine kick that I have not had before with a strong fragrance that hung thick in the air.

The coffee is halal-certified and the manager of the coffee factory shared with us that this TV brand coffee is a hot favourite among the Malaysian ministers as well. Local celebrities were also seen on the photo collages plastered on the walls when we entered the coffee factory. If you want to try Kluang Kopi for yourself, you can get it from Giant or Aon hypermarkets when you visit Malaysia!

If you are interested to have a tour of the coffee powder factory, do email me for more information!
